The £24 million A2 Maydown to Derry Dualling scheme was officially launched by Minister for Regional Development, Conor Murphy.
Conor Murphy commented that: “This project has considerable local support and I am pleased to see the work started. The improvements will greatly improve journey times for both strategic traffic and other road users in the local community and will, in turn, contribute towards the continued economic development of the north and efforts to improve road safety.”
The A2 is part of the Northern Key Transport Corridor connecting Belfast to Derry via Coleraine. It is the main road connecting Limavady to Derry and provides links to the Maydown and Campsey industrial zones and to the City of Derry Airport, the key air transport hub in the northwest.
