Visit by St Patricks Primary School

14 May 2009 | 13:54

St. Patrick’s Primary School, located in Loughguile, have been learning all about water and the vital role it plays in our daily lives.

The primary school approached one our key subcontractors, ‘Brian Quinn’, and requested a site visit to teach the children more about the processes involved in providing clean drinking water to homes in Northern Ireland. Brian Quinn was delighted to be asked and approached the Lagan Holleran JV for support in hosting the visit. Ciara Doherty, Lagan’s Customer Service Manager on the Watermain Rehabilitation Framework, is pictured below accompanying the school during their visit in early May.

Building on the success of the site visit Ciara delivered a presentation introducing the children to Northern Ireland Water’s ‘Water Wise Super Hero’, H2O.

This presentation aims to make children aware of a range of water issues such as the water cycle, water for health, water sources, water and wastewater treatment, water conservation and water in the third world. The presentation uses a number of educational tools such as; games, worksheets, and DVDs to make learning fun .
