Supplier of the year…

The consistent performance and hard work of our regional team in the south of England on the Newquay Airport Scheme was recognised by client, Mansell Construction Services, earlier this month.

Mansell host an annual awards dinner to recognise the contributions their suppliers make.

Steve Turner and Paul Shackleton (pictured) were delighted to represent the company and collected both the Supply Chain Partner of the Year Regional Award for the South West Division and the National Award.

Back to school for Ciara Doherty

07 April 2009 | 11:49

Ciara Doherty has signed up as our local ICE Ambassador to
support the Civil Engineering in Primary Schools programme.

ICE Ambassadors are members who volunteer to work with schools to encourage awareness and enthusiasm for Civil Engineering and the subjects which underpin its study. This involves attendance at careers fairs, giving presentations on engineering careers and running engineering activities with groups of school children.

Ciara recently visited Hollybush Primary School where she delivered a presentation on Civil Engineering, explained her role as an engineer and encouraged the children to dress up in PPE.

As part of her visit Ciara challenged the class to recreate the Earth’s Water Cycle. The children thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and created a 3D model (pictured right) and also produced and presented an impressive powerpoint presentation
on the topic.

A celebration day was held for participating schools on the 27th
March. For their efforts each school was presented with a certificate by Councillor Martin McColgan (Omagh District Council).

The schools, as part of the celebration, participated in a Spag Mal Challenge to build a tower 300mm high using Spaghetti and marshmallows!! Four girls from Holly Bush Primary School were runners up.
