DBFO2, A4 Dungannon to Ballygawley, achieves a major milestone

The Lagan Ferrovial Construction Joint Venture opened two major sections of the £250M DBFO2 Roads Contract Scheme, N. Ireland, during February 2010 with the completion of section 3B (Annaghilla) and 3C (Tullyvar) along the A4 Dungannon to Ballygawley route.

This part of DBFO2 involves the upgrade of approximately 20.5km of the A4 between Dungannon and Ballygawley to provide high quality dual carriageway and it incorporates the construction of grade separated junctions, hard shoulders, and the erection of a central median safety barrier along the full length.

In total this opening represents almost 7km of new carriageway. These 2+ 1 sections of road provide overtaking opportunities in each direction and represent a major milestone in the completion of the A4 Dungannon to Ballygawley aspect of the DBFO2 scheme.  The finished sections were subject to a Road Safety Audit at the end of February and are now fully operational to local traffic.

Other parts of DBFO2 are also progressing well, with access improvements to the A1 opened to the public during 2009, these include 2 over bridges at Hillsborough and Banbridge.
