We recognise the importance of recruiting and retaining the best people. We are committed to motivating and developing all our employees, providing excellent training and career opportunities, enabling them to reach their potential within a supportive and stimulating workplace.

Values and Culture
As a private family business we are proud of our values and our culture which are at the heart of our company and set the standard for how we behave.  We work hard to promote a culture where each individual feels …

  • Safe and secure
  • Valued and respected
  • Well rewarded
  • Fairly treated
  • Developed and challenged
  • That they are enjoying their work and having fun
  •                                     ….Built on a foundation of trust and teamwork

Lagan has all the values you’d expect from a family business – fairness, honesty, a good work ethic and supportive of employees

    Stephen Blackburne, Joint Venture Accountant

We are continually reviewing our employee benefits package to ensure that we remain competitive.  Our reward strategy considers salary, incentives and benefits as a total package for the individual and depending on your position and grade, this could include the following:

    • Generous holiday entitlement
    • Company pension scheme
    • Life assurance
    • Discretionary bonus scheme
    • Company car or car allowance and fuel card
    • Private medical insurance
    • Childcare vouchers (UK only)
    • Membership for relevant Institutions and professional bodies
    • Charitable payroll giving
    • Health check-ups
    • Personal development opportunities
    • Length of service awards
    • Additional holidays for length of service
    • Career breaks
    • Free eyesight tests
    • Fun Club activities
    • Annual dinner dance

    Work Life Balance
We recognise the importance of achieving a healthy work-life balance and have put various measures into place to help our employees achieve this.  These include regular health checks through our occupational health provider, tax-efficient childcare vouchers and a range of sporting events and social activities organised by our ‘Fun Club’.

In addition, we offer a basic holiday entitlement for all staff with additional holidays awarded for length of service.  We are also currently trialling a scheme to allow employees to ‘buy’ additional holidays through salary sacrifice, which has proved very popular.

All employees have the opportunity to request career breaks and flexible working arrangements and we always try to accommodate such requests where possible.

“Lagan is a good employer that is committed to its staff… I know I am recognised and valued for the work I do.”

    People Development
Lagan Construction is keen to support training and development for all employees. The company recognises the contribution that the development of our people brings to the organisation, leading to improved efficiencies and profitability, as well as providing all employees with the skills they require to achieve their full potential. Employees are therefore encouraged to take responsibility for their own development either through formal training or by developing their skills on the job.  We believe the best way to learn is by doing, and employees are encouraged to take on ‘stretch’ assignments with support from their manager.  Many of our senior managers began their careers as graduates or trainees with Lagan and are now leading their own teams and projects.
