Michael Lagan
Chairman

Michael Lagan has dedicated his professional career to the development of the original quarrying business, founded by his late father Peter in 1960, through to the growth of Lagan Construction as a global civil engineering business.

Under Michael’s leadership Lagan Construction has flourished, and now boasts an impressive portfolio of construction contracts in the airport, roads, water, energy and rail sectors. Lagan Construction now operates globally employing over 400 people with an annual turnover in excess of £150 million.

While each Lagan company board consists of a range of experienced professionals, all companies are in complete proprietorship of the Lagan family.

Colin Loughran
Managing Director

Colin was appointed Managing Director of Lagan Construction in September 2010, prior to this he had been Deputy MD for 2 years.  

Colin is responsible for the strategic delevelpment of Lagan Construction’s civil engineering activities within the roads, airfield, water/wastewater, marine and energy sectors. Lagan Construction benefits from Colin’s commercial acumen, gained from more than 20 years management experience in civil engineering, which will influence the business as it continues to expand.

A specialist in airfield improvement and road surfacing contracts in the developing world, Colin was appointed as Lagan Construction’s International Managing Director from January 2006 – 2008, having previously been Commercial Director at Lagan International Ltd for ten years.

A BSc Honours graduate in Quantity Surveying, Colin began his career at Nuttall before joining Lagan in 1992. He has extensive international experience and has delivered a wide range of infrastructure projects in some of the most remote locations across the Caribbean, Asia Pacific and the Indian Ocean.

David Jeffs
Director

A chartered civil engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, David was appointed Managing Director from November 2005 – August 2010 . David successfully managed the merging of the 3 Lagan civil engineering businesses in 2005 to form Lagan Construction, and strategically grew the business year on year to an annual turnover of £150 million per annum. A key facet to this was the co-ordinated training and personal development of the senior management team within the business, an investment that David took a key part in implementing.

David will remain as a Director of Lagan Construction for the foreseeable future and will take on different duties and responsibilities.

Adrian Dixon
Operations Director

Adrian specialises in a range of infrastructure disciplines including wastewater treatment works, watermains and sewerage, marine, roads and bridge construction schemes. Previously Contracts Director of Lagan Construction, he was appointed Operations Director in early 2007.

Adrian began his civil engineering career with F.P McCann where he gained more that 12 years experience in the construction of highways, bridges, airports, landfill, grass and synthetic pitches as well as environmental projects.

Freddie Patterson
Business Development Director

Freddie specialises in roads surfacing, airport improvement and transportation schemes in his role as Business Development Director for Lagan Construction. Previously he directed business development for Lagan International Ltd, a role which involved him in the procurement and delivery of infrastructure capital and maintenance projects across the world.

A BSc Honours graduate in Civil Engineering, Freddie began his career with W&J Taggart in 1978 before moving to RJ Maxwell & Sons in 1984. He joined the Lagan companies in the early 1990s as a General Manager and progressed to Business Development Director in 2003.

Scott Martin
Finance Director

Scott was appointed Finance Director for Lagan Construction in March 2006. A qualified Chartered Accountant since 1991, Scott first worked in Milan before taking up a position with Price Waterhouse Coopers in Belfast as a Management Consultant in 1993, where he gained considerable experience in the construction and house building sectors, as well as construction materials. He was appointed Director in 2004.

A specialist in corporate strategy and in the implementation of finance systems and processes, Scott manages our financial functions whilst supporting the Company‘s ambitious growth strategy.
